Diversity and Inclusion

Flexible working and family friendly

We know that working 9am to 5pm in the office is no longer practical for many of us, and so to ensure we get the best people joining our team, we're flexible.

Flexible working is as important to us as it is to you.

We know that the best person for the job isn’t always available 9am to 5pm, 5 days a week.

That’s why we were one of the first insurance companies to advertise all of our vacancies as flexible, and with the option of a job-share or part-time, as well as to flex your location.

We want you to know – before you even join us – what we are doing to embrace flexible working. See our flexible working policy.

How we do flexible working

Our approach includes informal flexibility, which we call ‘Smart Working’. Built on two-way flexibility and trust, it gives our people the freedom, to work in a way that maximises productivity and wellbeing. In practical terms, it means flexibility over your location of work, so you can work from home (as long as its within the UK) with visits to the office from time to time; and, for many of our roles, flexibility within your working day to meet other lifestyle commitments, such as school drop offs, having the car serviced and dentist appointments. This way of working is also compatible with formal flexible working patterns, such as part-time and job-share (25% of our people work part-time). Speak to us about the flexibility you require.

To demonstrate our commitment to flexible working, we were one of the first companies to sign up to the Association of British Insurers’ Making Flexible Work charter.

Offering flexible working patterns and locations is a key part of our diversity and inclusion strategy. You might also be interested in our approach to parental leave.
