What is Accidental Damage cover for Contents insurance?
Accidental Damage is optional cover if you’re choosing Contents insurance. It provides extra protection for your possessions inside your home, giving you more peace of mind.
Accidental damage is something that is often claimed for, but sometimes customers haven’t included the optional cover, so the claim can’t be paid. It provides additional cover for damage not otherwise included in your home insurance policy.
What’s covered:
- Knocking over a TV
- Dropping a laptop
- Spilling a drink on a carpet
What’s not covered:
- Wear and tear, which we class as damage or deterioration caused by general everyday use
- Gradual damage and rot
- Mechanical fault or breakdown
- Damage caused by pets and vermin
- Rain or water damage as a result of poor workmanship, bad design or wear and tear
