How we can help
There are a number of different reasons why you might need a close friend or family member to manage your affairs. For example, you may have recently been diagnosed with dementia or Alzheimer’s and be looking at making longer term plans, or it may be a temporary solution while you’re in hospital and need somebody to help you with everyday tasks such as paying bills. Whatever the reasons for doing so, giving somebody the legal right to manage your affairs and make decisions on your behalf is known as Power Of Attorney.
While it’s a big decision, if you’re worried about managing your financial matters on your own, it may ultimately be the best for your wellbeing and give you peace of mind to give that control to somebody you trust when the time is right for you. If you think this is the right option for you, we can help you get information and support, to help make the process as easy as possible for you.
If you’re considering giving someone else the responsibility to manage your affairs and insurance policies, or you’ve been asked to be POA for someone, we’re here to help make this as easy as we can.
For further support, there are many organisations that can help – see our charities and organisations.
Please note, this page is written addressing people who may wish for someone else to manage their affairs. However, it may also be useful for any family, friends or carers who may be appointed with a lasting power of attorney (LPA) in future.
