Can I drive my van in Europe and abroad?
You will be provided with cover as standard while you or any driver covered on your policy is driving within the European Union. The European Commission has announced that with effect from the 2nd August 2021, UK drivers will no longer be required to carry Green Cards when driving their vehicle in the EU (including Ireland), Andorra, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway, Serbia, and Switzerland. You can find out more within your policy booklet, or by clicking on the link below. https://www.ageas.co.uk/green-card-information/
Please be aware that a Green Card may still be required to drive in other countries, including: Albania, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Moldova, Russia, Turkey and Ukraine. For more information on government guidelines, please visit the link below https://www.gov.uk/vehicle-insurance/driving-abroad.
If you still require a Green Card, you can request one at no extra cost from us by calling 0345 165 0946. Please have your travel dates available and give us 2-3 weeks’ notice to ensure that you receive your Green Card in the post in good time. Alternatively, if you prefer, we can email your Green Card to you, but you will have to print it off yourself.
Can I drive other cars or vans?
You are not covered to drive other vehicles.
Do I need business use?
Business use is needed if you are travelling to more than one place of work.
When do I get a courtesy van?
A courtesy van is covered as standard in our policies. This will only be provided whilst your vehicle is being repaired by one of our approved repairers.
We also offer 'Replacement Van Cover', which provides a hire van for up to 7 continuous days if the van you have insured with is unrecoverable (for example, if it was stolen or written off). The courtesy vehicle will be a similar size to the insured vehicle. We will not provide specialist vehicles such as a tipper.
You will not need to add this as optional cover if you would only like to be covered with a courtesy van in the event of your van being repaired by one of our approved repairers.
What's a policy excess?
A policy excess is the amount you have to pay towards the cost of your claim. It is made up of a standard amount which you cannot change and a voluntary amount which you set yourself. Details of your policy excess can be found in your Statement of Fact, or as part of your quote .
Choosing a voluntary amount may reduce the cost of your premium, but you will have a higher excess to pay if you make a claim.
Am I covered for voluntary driving?
Voluntary work is work carried out by a person willingly without receiving any financial gain (except for mileage allowance). This is not something we need to record on your policy.
Am I covered for caravans and trailers?
Your motor policy will cover you using your van to tow any single trailer-caravan or broken-down vehicle while it is attached to your van and if allowed by law, provided it is not being towed for hire or reward.
My vehicle's not showing as insured on the Motor Insurance Database
It can take up to 72 hours for the Motor Insurance Database to be updated. Your cover will start on the date shown on your policy documents.
